Humanlight Celebration

This is a Humanist holiday celebrated annually since 2011.  The secular holiday is intended to focus on the positive human values of reason, compassion, humanity and hope.

Winter Solstice 12/17-12/25

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, typically occurring between the 20th and the 22nd day of December.  It was celebrated by Pagans from time immemorial as the day on which the ‘Unconquered Sun’ begins its journey back towards Earth.

Ursids Meteor Shower

Shooting stars associated with the Ursids are expected to be visible each night from December 17th to the 25th, with the maximum rate of activity --- around 10 meteors per hour --- occuring on December 22nd.  The parent body responsible for creating these meteor showers is the comet Tuttle.  The moon will be 26 days […]
