Eta Aquarids Meteor Showers

May 1 - May 5

The Earth passes through the stream of Halley’s Comet in May and October.  In May we have the Eta Aquarids, in October the Orionids. The forecast for 2019 calls for the greatest number of Eta Aquarids meteors to fall before dawn on (or near) May 5th.  However, this shower has a rather broad maximum, so the day before or after may be just as good.  The New Moon on May 4th will provide dark skies for good viewing. In general, the best time to watch these fast an often bright meteors will be in the early morning hours.
